Frank Mellon is a tax, corporate and business attorney whose practice focuses on federal, state and local tax and business matters. His practice centers on business, tax and transactional planning with a primary focus on: (a) tax planning for business transactions, (b) partnership, limited liability company and corporate formations, operations, reorganizations, purchases, sales, mergers, split-ups and liquidations, and (c) real property purchases, syndications, sales, and exchanges. Mr. Mellon also represents clients before all federal and state tax authorities. Prior to founding EBLG, Mr. Mellon was a tax and business attorney for nine years with two large Northern Virginia law firms, where he was responsible for the firms' tax transaction practice in Northern Virginia. In addition, Mr. Mellon spent seven years as a tax consultant with the national tax practice of Ernst & Whinny (now Ernst & Young) where he earned his certificate as a certified public accountant and advised many corporations, cooperatives, partnerships and individuals on all aspects of federal and state tax planning. Mr. Mellon has authored numerous articles on tax and business planning, including the Research Institute of America Group's publication Limited Liability Companies 1st and 2nd Editions. Mr. Mellon received his B.B.A. with a major in accounting from Temple University, where he graduated cum laude, his J.D. degree from Temple University School of Law and his Master of Laws in Taxation degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Mellon is admitted to practice law in Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland, California, Pennsylvania, Delaware and the United States Tax Court and is a member of the American Bar Association, Virginia Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
