For over two decades, Scott Mills has counseled management clients in the areas of employment and labor law and commercial and employment litigation. Scott provides strategic solutions to clients on employee and executive contracts, including restrictive covenants, confidentiality agreements and intellectual property agreements.  He counsels clients on compliance issues in a broad range of topics, including wage and hour and overtime, union avoidance and labor-management relations, federal and state leave requirements, OSHA workplace safety policies, and background checks and compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, just to name a few.  A frequent speaker and a writer of numerous articles and employment law manuals, Scott also conducts internal employment law compliance and due diligence audits, and he has extensive experience in providing workplace training in a variety of employment and human resources topics.

Scott represents commercial and management clients before state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels, before administrative agencies (e.g., EEOC, NLRB, DOL, state licensing boards, and state unemployment commissions), and in mediation and arbitration.

Scott is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, Robert F. Hanley Advanced Advocates Program.

A member of the Bars of Virginia and of the District of Columbia, Scott received his B.A. with high honors in public administration from the University of Oklahoma, where he also received his law degree. Scott is admitted to and has practiced before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Eleventh, Federal, and District of Columbia Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
